It needs a bigger boat. I agree with 13, guy ritchie is like diabetes on british film. In the 19 years since, the zombie movie has languished, including the various Return of the Living Dead sequels, the ill-fated remake of Romero's original Night of the Living Dead, Danny Boyle's derivative 28 Days Later and this year's Dawn of the Dead remake.

Shaun of the Dead

Ratcatcher no 9. Using a group of potential victims who aren't the brightest bunch offers up a recipe for laughs that only those with the darkest sense of humor will appreciate. These trials include losing his parents to the brain-hungry zombies which in turn motivates Shaun to take matters into his own hands.

Paths of the Trek, Detail Detail of Vulcan, while still a work in progress. He doesn't deserve to be on there.

Shaun Of The Dead/Hot Fuzz

I'm not british but damn, this really isn't a nice top25 without these two movies. A local physician and a government scientist join forces when the women simultaneously give birth and the reign of terror begins.

We see this through all the trials that Shaun encounters. While most other movies of the undead are filled with fright and suspense, Shaun of the Dead is making fun of how ridiculous the zombie genre seems to be. Tony Leung and Andy not director Andrew Lau star as two moles--Leung a cop posing as a gangster, Lau a gangster who's also a respected cop--each of whom needs to root out the other before his cover is blown.

In most other zombie films the entire point is to kill or be killed. When flesh-eating zombies are on the hunt for a bite to eat, it's up to slacker Shaun Simon Pegg and his best pal Nick Frost to save their friends and family from becoming the next entree. Some mysterious force has caused the dead to come back to life with a taste for the living and soon enough it's snack time for zombos.

One of the year's best. In the end, Shaun gains back his girlfriend and saves his best friend.

Colca on Sep 1, 28 Glad to see Shaun of the Dead made it on here. Trainspotting, though visionary at the time it was made, is a bit overrated. Spaced alum also include Nick Frost and the film's director Edgar Wright, who shares writing credits on the film with Simon Pegg.

This movie has a concept so wild, it'll make you chuckle at the mere thought of it. Snatch and Lock Stock need to be on this list. The film maker's love of the genre is obvious and immediate and there are lots of references to other zombie films.Shaun of the dead is in a word, brilliant.

I've seen this movie at least 10 times and it never gets old, makes me laugh at each viewing. Having seen Dawn of the Dead, i was expecting just another spoof (as the name implies) but was pleasantly surprised to find a completely original story with some great comedy moments and superb acting all around (not to mention buckets of gore).

The daffy, innately British joke that propels the cheeky U.K. comedy hit Shaun of the Dead is that although real zombies have risen up -- slacker wankers Shaun (Simon Pegg) and his best pal and roommate, Ed (Nick Frost), are too slack, wankerish, and blitheringly British to notice.

Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz - both co-written by Wright with his star, Simon Pegg - aren't pastiches at all, but perfectly calibrated contributions to their specific genres.
